The temperature here at 6am was only 2C and there is no doubt that some local sheltered areas experienced possibly the first frost for this winter.
Our first is yet to come and it will be interesting to see if we can make it into June before our lawns show us their white winter dresses. That would be much the same as the European lawns not putting on their fancy whites till December. Would that be common or not?

I'll never love frosty mornings. My memories are very vivid of the childhood years when I had to get out of bed before sunrise and walking barefooted across rhe frost covered paddocks, bring the cows in for milking.

Pro We get most of our snow here in January. I've noticed if we have snow before Christmas it turns out a helluva winter!

I can't speak for European lawns as a whole. Lawns are not common everywhere in Europe. There are also varied climates. When we might have a hard frost, even up till April or May, somewhere else might be blooming with blossoms, grass growing, any shades of Winter well out of sight.
I have been to Southern Europe in November time and walked around in summer clothes yet, at Easter in the same region, the temperatures were low enough for snow.
