Longest Day of Rain.......football......and boredom

by workandbooks @ 2008-06-21 - 22:41:33

I'm here for a moan again, that is after all why I joined the weathercheck group, there's always plenty to complain about with regards to the weather.

I'm currently losing the will to live. The longest day today and it's rained for the whole of it. Went out this afternoon and it showed a temperature of 11.5 degrees on the car thing.

Football has been on TV all night and I mean all flaming night. I hate, hate, hate it. If and when it ever finishes then we've got the cheery old news, followed by Amir Khan boxing - oh joy, what fun. I've read the whole of the internet and am now completely bored, so much so that I even joined up to twitter. What is that all about? What the hell point is there in telling people what an incredibly boring life you're leading every five minutes, by text, IMS or Facebook or any other social networking medium you care to mention when I can do that just as well on here.

Umph, well I'm off to make some more toast now, I polished off a whole bar of chocolate this afternoon and already had 1 piece of toast and now I'm having another. Bothered if I get fat? No. If all I ever get to wear is thick woolly jumpers and big cardigans what is the point of being thin. >:-[

I've noticed we usually get heavy rain just after the solstice, but today was so misty I couldn't even see the mountain opposite, let alone the sun!

The cloud was very low here too. The wind turbines up in the hills looked very eerie poking out between the clouds.

Well, I might not get too fat eating toast just before bedtime but I still got my comeuppance by way of terrible indigestion at 3.00am this morning

Here, here. I'm equally as pi**ed off and I've had a groan and moan in two places, just for good measure. I might seek out a place for a third. Then I'll have to taste a ring of bread hubby's made. We're over breaded, as earlier, I bought a large French stick as well. Do you fancy coming over and helping us eat ours as well as your own bread!

Mmm sounds lovely. I'm not too keen on home made bread but I'll certainly help you out with the French Stick. I just bought an Asda bakery loaf, should have known better. Our Asda store is only 12 months old and has a brand new, apparently energy efficient bakery. The bread had the consistency of a wet rag upon eating it - so much for their energy efficient ovens.

Tesco's bread and their proprietary sliced loaves, rolls and known brands fit your wet rag description well. The exception are their French sticks, with or without seeds, and ciabatta rolls. Now, the Co-op have a good part pre-baked bakery, producing very acceptable bread, but that's about the best of what they do.

Makes a change from talking about whether the weather is going to be variable enough to gossip about, even if this is what this blog is about!

Oh dear! Should I take the blame for setting up a moaners' group? LOL

No, No. I don't think us British are happy unless we have something to complain about, although maybe if we had wall-to-wall sunshine just a bit more often we might all be a bit happier. :)

I once lived somewhere where the sun shone for months at a time. God it was boring.

You live in the South now though, yes? If you lived up here near Manchester where I live, believe me you would beg on bended knees for sunshine. Thick grey cloud and rain gets pretty boring too. :) No word of a lie I can count on one hand the amount of times it's been warm enough this year to wear a sleeveless top, most of the time I have a polo neck jumper on.
